David Bowie – then Davie Jones – performed his second show with the Manish Boys on Sunday 26 July 1964.
The show took place at the Eel Pie Island Jazz Club at the Eel Pie Island Hotel, on a small River Thames island near Twickenham.
The venue was an important one in the UK R&B, jazz and blues scene in the 1960s, and he played there and saw a number of acts on subsequent occasions. The hotel burnt down in 1971.
