On 13 and 14 September 1967, David Bowie starred in the silent horror short film The Image.
On 11 September Bowie had been photographed in London by Robin Bean. One of the shots was painted by William Mason, to be used as a centrepiece of the film.
The Image was directed by Michael Armstrong and filmed in black and white. The shoot took place in a derelict property near Harrow Road in west London, and also starred Michael Byrne. Some unused shots of Bowie running over a nearby hill were also filmed, but remained unused in the final cut.
