Travel: London to Amsterdam

David Bowie and his manager Kenneth Pitt flew to Amsterdam on 7 November 1967 to film an appearance on the Dutch TV show Fan Club.

Cash Box’s correspondent in Holland, Paul Acket, had mentioned in his column that ‘Love You Till Tuesday’ was to be released in Holland and so I wrote to ask him if he would put me in touch with the official at Dutch Deram who was in charge of promotional visits. This resulted in a telephone call from Jan Corduwener, the Artists Relations manager at Phonogram, the company marketing Deram in Holland. Jan wanted to know if David could go to Holland for an appearance on the television programme called Fanclub [sic], in which he would have to mime to the record. It was agreed that David and I would fly to Amsterdam on November 7. We were met by Jan Corduwener and taken to the Motel Naarden, Amersfoortsestraatweg 92, Naarden, where for three nights we shared a room. This was David’s first TV appearance for nearly two years, but he sailed through it without a hitch and the entire visit to Holland did much for his morale, thanks in no small measure to the gracious competence of Jan Corduwener.
