David Bowie began filming The Virgin Soldiers on 29 October 1968.
The shoot took place at Twickenham Film Studios in London. Bowie had a role as an extra, and appeared in the finished film during a bar scene.
The Virgin Soldiers went on general release in October 1969. It was directed by John Dexter and starred Lynn Redgrave, Hywel Bennett, Nigel Davenport, and Nigel Patrick.
