The final day of filming David Bowie’s Love You Till Tuesday took place at London’s Clarence Studios on 7 February 1969.
The 28-minute promotional film was intended to showcase Bowie’s talents, and included his Feathers bandmates Hermione Farthingale and John ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson.
On this day the final touches were added to the ‘Space Oddity’ sequence, and Bowie filmed a piece for ‘When I’m Five’.
The filming dates for Love You Till Tuesday were 26 January and 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 February 1969. It was directed by Malcolm J Thomson.
The next and final day of the shooting schedule was occupied in finishing the ‘Space Oddity’ sequence and filming ‘When I’m Five’, for which an enormous birthday cake, complete with lighted candles taller than David himself, had been built by the studio. Apart from the creative director Malcolm J Thomson, those who had taken part in the entire production were David McDonald, director of photography; Mick Messenger, camera operator; Robert Carter, film editor; Des Crowe, production designer; Jonathan Weston, music supervisor; Keith Beale, sound recordist; Paul Owens, hairdresser; Henrietta Holmes, make-up; Liz Edmondson, continuity and Suzanne Mercer, production assistant.
