David Bowie made an appearance on the BBC music TV show Colour Me Pop on 10 May 1969.
He had been invited on by the band The Strawbs, who were making an appearance on the show. Bowie performed a mime to the Strawbs’ song ‘Poor Jimmy Wilson’, and the band performed ‘The Man Who Called Himself Jesus’.
The shoot took place at BBC Television Centre in London’s White City. The edition of Colour Me Pop was broadcast on BBC Two on 14 June 1969.
