David Bowie performed at the Hounslow Arts Lab at the White Bear pub in Hounslow on Tuesday 15 July 1969.
Bowie was backed by Tony Visconti on bass guitar and John Cambridge on drums.
The Hounslow Arts Lab was run by Dave Cousins of the Strawbs, with whom Bowie performed at a number of shows in 1969.
On this occasion, as he had done before, Bowie performed a mime routine during the Strawbs’ set. His musical performance, however, was closer to a rock show than at any time previously, and was an indicator of his future direction.
The sessions for Bowie’s second album, produced by Visconti, began the following day at Trident Studios.
