David Bowie performed at the Fickle Pickle Club in Southend-on-Sea on 18 July 1970.
The club was at the Cricketers Inn at 228 London Road. Although billed as a solo act, Bowie was backed by Hype: guitarist Mick Ronson, bassist Tony Visconti, and drummer Mick ‘Woody’ Woodmansey.
Also on the bill at this event was the band Aquila. At this show Bowie was invited to appear at a charity event for Shelter, which took place on 1 August.
