David Bowie played piano and sang backing vocals on Peter Noone’s recording of Oh! You Pretty Things on 26 March 1971.
The session took place at Kingsway Studios at 129 Kingsway, London, with Mickie Most producing. In addition to Bowie, the musicians were Herbie Flowers on bass guitar, and Clem Cattini on drums.
Also taped during the session, again with Bowie on piano, was another of his compositions, ‘Right On Mother’. Bowie had demoed the song on 9 and 10 March, but never recorded it properly. Noone’s version was initially intended to be the b-side of the single, but was held back for a future release which never occurred.
