David Bowie performed at the Country Club at 210a Haverstock Hill, London, on 11 August 1971, supported by Tucky Buzzard.
Bowie had performed at the venue on 21 July, and with Turquoise on 20 October 1968 and Feathers on 17 November 1968.
Although the show was not well attended, it was seen by some of the cast from the controversial Andy Warhol play Pork, which was in the middle of a four-week run at the Roundhouse. The assistant stage director Leee Black Childers had recalled Bowie from a Rolling Stone article, and persuaded cast members Wayne County, Tony Zanetta, Geri Miller, and Cherry Vanilla to attend.
Bowie acknowledged the theatre troupe by performing ‘Andy Warhol’ in their honour. After the show he was invited to watch the play the following night.
