David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars performed at Bristol’s Colston Hall on 13 June 1972.
It was the 37th date of the Ziggy Stardust Tour, which had begun on 29 January. On this occasion the support act was the JSD Band.
Bowie had previously performed at the Colston Hall (now the Bristol Beacon) on 13 October 1969. The Ziggy Stardust Tour returned to the venue for two shows on 18 June 1973.

A seminal event for me, sat near the front. The audiotium went dark. Beethoven’s Nineth (Walter Carlos) blasted out in the dark. specs of lights flickering blue on amps on stage.. A burst and they were there.. The first strummed chords of Queen Bitch and Mick Ronson’s electric guitar following in playing.. incredibly powerful.. incredibly loud.. absolute magic!
