David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars performed at Dunstable’s Civic Hall on 21 June 1972.
It was the 41st date of the Ziggy Stardust Tour, which had begun on 29 January.
The support act on this occasion was the Flamin’ Groovies, and tickets cost 75 pence. Bowie’s set was filmed and photographed by Mick Rock.
This was also the date on which Granada Television broadcast the children’s music show Lift Off With Ayshea, which featured Bowie and the Spiders performing ‘Starman’. Their appearance had been filmed on 15 June 1972.
Bowie had previously performed at Dunstable’s California Ballroom with the Manish Boys on 13 February 1965, and with The Buzz on 23 April, 23 May, 6 June, 11 June, 20 June, and 27 June 1966.
