David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars performed at the Kiel Auditorium in St Louis, Missouri, on 11 October 1972.
It was the 65th date of the Ziggy Stardust Tour, which had begun on 29 January 1972.
Tickets cost $4.50-5.50. However, the date was a late addition to the tour, and only around ten percent of the 10,000 tickets were sold. Keen to make the best of it, Bowie encouraged the audience to gather at the foot of the stage during the show.
Only a few hundred stalwart fans showed. I got them to come down to the front, to the orchestra pit, and gave them a real intimate show, talk going back and forth between us all night.
