David Bowie and Mick Ronson travelled from St Louis, Missouri, to Nashville, Tennessee, on 12 October 1972.
Bowie and the Spiders From Mars had recorded ‘The Jean Genie’ on 6 and 7 October. Keen to release it as a single, Bowie and Ronson mixed it at RCA Studios in Nashville on the following day, along with tracks recorded in Boston for a mooted live album.
The rest of Bowie’s band and entourage travelled to Kansas on this day, where the Ziggy Stardust Tour resumed on 15 October.
