David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars performed at the Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, on 1 December 1972.
It was the 81st date of the Ziggy Stardust Tour, which had begun on 29 January 1972.
This was the second of three consecutive nights at the Tower, and the last US dates of this leg of the Ziggy Stardust Tour. The tour returned to the venue on 16, 17, 18, and 19 February 1973.
The famous Tower Theater in Philadelphia was to be our final venue on this first Bowie and the Spiders US tour. We had sold out the first two dates and a third had to be added, which also sold out. We played three blistering shows in a perfect finale to the most amazing three months of my life so far.
Spider From Mars: My Life With Bowie
During the Diamond Dogs Tour, Bowie performed at the venue on 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 July 1974. All but the last date were recorded, and released as the David Live album later that year.
On 19 March 1977 Iggy Pop’s The Idiot Tour called at the Tower. Bowie played keyboards during the tour. Tin Machine’s It’s My Life Tour also came to the venue on 15 and 17 November 1991.
Bowie’s final show at the Tower Theater was the penultimate date of the Heathen Tour on 21 October 2002.
