In March 1973 David Bowie travelled from the USA to Japan aboard the SS Oronsay. On 21 March the ship left San Francisco for Vancouver, Canada.
Bowie was accompanied on the voyage by Geoff MacCormack, his friend and backing singer. They had set sail in Los Angeles on 19 March, and arrived in San Francisco the next day. They spent one night ashore before resuming the journey on this day.
The Oronsay arrived in Vancouver on 23 March. Bowie was interviewed by a local TV news crew, and RCA staff gave him a tour of the city.
That evening they set sail for Hawaii, and arrived in Yokohama on 5 April.
