Live: Gaumont Theatre, Worcester

David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars performed at Worcester’s Gaumont Theatre on 4 June 1973.

It was the 129th date of the Ziggy Stardust Tour, which had begun on 29 January 1972. This was Bowie’s only appearance in Worcester.

The Gaumont Theatre opened in 1935, and hosted many rock ‘n’ roll acts from the 1950s to its closure in 1974. It was converted to a bingo hall until its closure in 2020.

I saw this concert. It was amazing. This was my second Bowie concert. My first was the previous year at Stoke on Trent. A phenomenal evening. The 1973 concert was close to where I lived and to see David Bowie ‘on my doorstep’ was truly amazing. I taped the concert with my tape recorder and took several photographs. I still treasure these.
