David Bowie and the Spiders From Mars performed two shows at Manchester’s Free Trade Hall on 7 June 1973.
It was the 131st date of the Ziggy Stardust Tour, which had begun on 29 January 1972.
The two shows in that which I have always (sorry Birmingham) considered to be our nation’s second city went without a hitch, and David Bowie was happy enough. We could play our set backwards in our sleep by now.It was to be in Manchester, at the MEN, where many years later I was to arrange to meet backstage with David, during his Reality Tour.
