David Bowie and Mick Jagger watched Mott The Hoople perform at London’s Hammersmith Odeon on 14 December 1974.
They saw the show from behind Morgan Fisher’s grand piano. During the encore lead singer Ian Hunter told the crowd: “Three things made tonight so enjoyable: David Bowie, Mick Jagger, and you.”
This was the band’s second show of the evening, and it almost ended in a riot as venue staff and stewards attempted to keep fans from invading the stage. The show was released in 2019 on the album Live At Hammersmith 1973.
