David Bowie performed at Los Angeles’ Universal Amphitheatre on 12 September 1997, as part of the Earthling Tour.
It was the 50th date of the tour, which began on 7 June 1997 in Lübeck, Germany, and the first of two shows at the Universal Amphitheatre.
Bowie’s guitarist was Reeves Gabrels, and Mike Garson played piano and keyboards. Gail Ann Dorsey was on bass guitar, vocals and keyboards, and Zack Alford played the drums.
Bowie had previously performed at the Universal Amphitheatre for seven consecutive nights on 2–8 September 1974, during the Diamond Dogs Tour.
The 5,200-seat venue amphitheatre was demolished in September 2013 to make way for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood.
