Live: Riverside Studios, London

David Bowie performed at London’s Riverside Studios on 8 September 2003.

It was a warm-up show for A Reality Tour, which kicked off in Copenhagen on 7 October.

The show was filmed and broadcast live to 86 cinemas in 26 countries. It was the biggest ever non-TV satellite broadcast, and the first ever interactive cinema event, thanks to a Q&A element hosted by Bowie fan and broadcaster Jonathan Ross. It was also the first live satellite event in 5.1 DTS surround sound, overseen by Tony Visconti.

Earl Slick and Gerry Leonard played guitar, Gail Ann Dorsey was on bass guitar and vocals, and Mike Garson played keyboards and piano. Sterling Campbell was on drums, and Catherine Russell played keyboards, percussion, guitar and sang backing vocals.

A DVD of the show was included in the ‘Tour’ edition of Reality. In Canada the DVD was truncated to just five songs: ‘New Killer Star’, ‘Never Get Old’, ‘Days’, ‘Reality’, and ‘Bring Me The Disco King’.

An album, Ready, Set, Go! (Live, Riverside Studios ’03), was released on vinyl and CD for Record Store Day on 12 April 2025. It contained 14 of the 21 songs performed that day. Missing were versions of ‘A New Career In A New Town’, ‘Song 2’, ‘Rumble’, ‘Fantastic Voyage’, ‘Hang On To Yourself’, ‘Modern Love’, and a second version of ‘New Killer Star’.
